Quarantine Tanks

I do not consider fish to be “disposable pets”. My oldest koi is seven years old. One piece of equipment that I feel is essential for every koi keeper to have is a hospital/quarantine tank. If you are still collecting fish you need a quarantine tank. If you are through collecting and your fish spawn you need a brood tank to successfully raise the fry. The possibility that a fish can be injured during spawning, by a heron, or during a raccoon attack is very real. In this case it would be used as a hospital tank. Regardless of the application it is better to have this type of tank than to need one on a moments notice.

I build custom quarantine tanks or will explain to you how to construct one yourself. The following sizes are available:

150 gallons - capable of holding two large koi

300 gallons - capable of holding four large koi

400 gallons - capable of holding five or six large koi

900 gallons - capable of holding nine large koi

I also build custom filters to match the fish loads placed upon the various sizes of tanks. Multiple filters may be required for larger tanks with bigger fish loads. The 900 gallon tank makes an excellent indoor pond if you want to winter your fish inside.
